New penalties for unfair contract terms

From 9 November 2023, unfair contract terms will be a punishable offence.

Using or relying on unfair terms in standard form contracts will be banned, and penalties for breaches of the law will apply.

The definition of a small business contract is also changing with protections to cover businesses with 100 or fewer employees or that make less than $10 million in annual turnover.

Review your own standard form contracts and read more about these changes before the new laws and penalties take effect at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s website.

Preventing sexual harassment in your workplace

It’s your responsibility under work health and safety laws to ensure workers are not exposed to sexual harassment in your workplace.

When employees don’t feel safe at work, employee retention and business productivity can be impacted.
