      Pastoral Note
      Rev. Dr Bernard Thorogood

      Date of Death:
      30 April 2020

      Further Details:
A thanksgiving service for the life of Rev. Dr Bernard Thorogood OBE will be held on Monday, 27 February 2023 at 11.30am at Pymble Uniting Church. This follows his death and funeral at the height of Covid restrictions in April 2020 when his UK-based family were unable to be present.

Bernard Thorogood was a significant and much-loved figure in the world church, serving in the Pacific, leading the Council for World Missions as General Secretary and also serving a term as General Secretary for the United Reform Church in the UK, including contributions to the World Council of Churches. He retired to Australia, where he was recognised as a Minister of the Uniting Church, and was an active and respected member of the Pymble Congregation. He served a term with Pymble Chapel as part time minister and continued exercising his writing and artistic gifts to the joy and benefit of all who knew him.

The service will be an opportunity to celebrate his life and to recognise the significant place the Uniting Church, and the Pymble congregation in particular, played in his later years.

All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will follow in the Marshall Hall. The service will be broadcast live and able to be watched later at https://www.youtube.com/user/gordonuniting

Pymble Uniting Church - 1 Livingstone Ave, Pymble.

Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
